This song was created especially for my ski video game; it was a combined effort between me and my brother, aka DJ Danny Boi and DJ MC.  Michael did most of the work on the song, I just helped to motivate him.  It gives you a real chill feeling you want to just ski to.  I hope you enjoy it.  Thanks again Michael.

This is a song I composed entirely in Pro-Tools, it is entitled salamander because it reminds me of a slimy little salamander sketchily slithering across a wet rock.  This piece is in ABAB format and includes an underlying drum line, as well as a continuos bass line as well.  I EQd and compressed all of my tracks to make the piece sound better.  This song took me quite some time, so i hope you enjoy it. Oh and by the way, check out this sweet pic I found of this crazy guy going ham on a giant japanese salamander.  Pretty sick right?

This is a piece I composed using Pro-Tools; it is a song by Eric Clapton, and company.  This was easily the most challenging thing I have had to do in this class, due to the immense amount of difference in Pro-Tools and Garage Band.  This is like the fourth time I am writing this post, because the last 3 times it would not work, so I am sorry this response is so short, but I cant remember what I originally wrote, plus I am way too lazy to write it all over again.  To compensate my short response, I have attached an interesting photo of Eric Clapton with, what appears to be, a joint in his hand, prepared to be lit. Enjoy.

Tom Dowd was an exquisitely brilliant human being, with an amazing passion for music. His gift of thought and creativity lead him to excel in school, later landing him a job in the military working on the Manhattan Project.  following his years in the military Tom once again picked up music and quickly got himself as a low level musical engineer.  After stunning numerous artists and producers, Dowd received a job at Atlantic records working as an engineer for some of the biggest artists of his time.  Soon after being hired, Tom proved himself enough to become a music producer, and entered a whole new relationship with the musicians and other producers he worked with.  Although he could have made millions of dollars producing all of the hits he worked on, Tom Dowd only worked for hire because he says he “was in it for the love of the music, not the money or fame”.  Truly Mr. Dowd is an extraordinarily humble and talented human being, with much to give to the world; and although he is gone he will surely never be forgotten.

This is a lego motion video which I added music and sound effects to in order to give it a more enhanced and in-tune feel; since the original music it had was out of sync and did not work with the video at all.  I added in numerous different loops, sound effects, and nature sounds for each dancer in the video.  This video took me a little while to complete so I hope you enjoy it.

This is  a song I created entirely myself… no loops involved.  I was a little pressed for time while composing this, so its not my best work.  I used mainly synths, drum kits, and sound effects to create this mix.  The entire composition is 45 seconds long, exact, and was one of the hardest singles I have had to make so far.  Enjoy.

MIDI

MIDI is an acronym for Musical Instrument Digital Interface; meaning it can control multiple instruments at once, through a computer.  MIDI is used to create original sounds and beats from synthesized instruments through the use of a single computer.  An artist can basically control an entire orchestra by just using MIDI.  It makes it possible to play any sound or harmony you’d, in any way you’d like, at any speed you’d like.  MIDI has revolutionized the music technology field, helping it to evolve into a new stage and style of music production.

This is a recording a me narrating Chapter 7, “A Mad Tea Party”, of Lewis Carrol’s story, Alice in Wonderland.  Along with narrating the story, I also acted out the voices of the different characters included.  In order to show the change from character to character, I used vocal distortion to make their voices distinct.  Completing this process taught me how to record vocals and transmute them in order to give my piece more meaning, as well as add a sense of  interest for the listener.

Yea you already snow… this is in aabaca format…and an official banger.  I like to think of it as audio chocolate… try not to eat too much…

Les Paul was, in my opinion, one of (if not the) most influential human beings in the world of music technology.  His was most notable for his invention of the electric guitar; but in actuality his biggest accomplishment came in the form of his innovations in multi-track recording.  Paul single-handedly made it possible for artists to record over there previous tracks, allowing for higher quality, better sounding music.  Aside from being an inventor, Les Paul was also a very talented musician.  He, along with mary ford, had an extremely successful single entitled “How High The Moon”, as well as many other popular songs and television shows.  Throughout his life Mr. Paul collected numerous awards for his work in the field of music, all of which were well deserved; for without Les Paul our knowledge of the music based world would be dismal in comparison to what it is today.          SU WOO
